The box had a few dents and scuffs, but nothing out of the ordinary for freight shipping. I watched the tracking through the freight carrier and the TV was delivered yesterday. What if the bezel was all scratched up? What if there are a couple dead pixels? What if there is burn in because it was a display unit? What if there wasn't a remote included? Did I really want to spend this kind of money this week?īut what was done was done. I spent the next week wondering if I did the right thing. These details combined with other experiences people have posted here with LG being helpful with defects even in open box and display unit situations led me to actually purchase the TV. The policies for open box items ( ) didn't shed too much light on what I could expect except that I could return a faulty item for a replacement within 30 days. The Newegg listing said the TV was "open box in like new condition", so that immediately boosted my confidence. I did some research over the next hour trying to decide if this was a worthwhile chance to take and whether I was willing to spend even this lowered amount on a TV at this moment. Of course the key detail here is that it was an open box. They had an open box C8 listed for a price (under $900 with free shipping) that was well under what I had seen any LG OLED listed at before. I unexpectedly came across a good deal on Newegg last week. They were always out of my price range, but I watched the prices of the B series closely and I still dreamed of outfitting a media room with one someday. I closely followed the reviews and updates and continued to find they offered what I wanted out of a TV. I have been researching and keep track of LG's TVs for years. I am sharing so that others may have my experience as an example in this situation. I was concerned about purchasing such a large item as anything other than brand new and did as much research I could in a short amount of time. I wanted to share my experience with purchasing an open box OLED TV from Newegg.
